When is Pentecost?

Christians and Jews globally are getting ready for Pentecost or Shavuot, but the crazy thing is they all will be celebrating on different days and times.  When does God tell His children to celebrate?  Leviticus 23:5 says, “In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the LORD'S Passover.”  Numbers 9:2 says, “Let the children of Israel also keep the Passover at his appointed season.”  Numbers 28:16 says, “And in the fourteenth day of the first month is the Passover of the LORD.”

Why am I sharing Passover scriptures, when the discussion is supposed to allude to Pentecost?  Because one cannot know when Pentecost is to occur if the date of Passover is unknown.  Pentecost is to occur 50 days (Leviticus 23:15-16) after Passover.  Passover occurred on the 14th day of Nissan, which was April 22, 2024, on the Gregorian calendar.  Therefore, Pentecost occurs fifty days after Passover. Additionally, Passover happens every year on the 14th of Nissan. The day may change, but the date never changes; Passover is always on the same date, 14 of Nissan. Pentecost always happens 50 days after Passover. Therefore, the date and day will change with Pentecost.

Man cannot change the date of God’s appointed feasts.  Believers are to celebrate the feasts on the dates God says on His calendar.  The 14th day of Nissan was April 22, 2024, on the Gregorian calendar,  and fifty days later is Shavuot, which is June 11, 2024, on the Gregorian calendar.

Pentecost is to remind believers of Christ's death, burial, and resurrection: Yeshua was crucified on Pesach (14th Nissan) or Passover.  Fifty days after Passover, Shavuot or the Feast of Pentecost is to be celebrated to remind Jews how God Passover them with the angel of death in Egypt, and Pentecost is celebrated to remind Jews and Christians alike how Jesus Christ or Yeshua became the sacrificial lamb of Passover, and after his death, He promised to send the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) to His disciples.  Fifty days after Passover, on Shavuot (Pentecost), the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) fell on the believers in fulfillment of the promise given by our Lord.  Both, the giving of the Holy Spirit and the giving of the Torah occurred precisely according to the calendar on the same day, which occurred after the cross of Yeshua, just as He foretold.  The feasts of the Lord were not abolished (Matthew 5:17) after the crucifixion of the Lord; the feasts were fulfilled and celebrated.

During the 49 days of counting, Jews and Christians are counting the Omer (Leviticus 23:15-16).  This period of counting is known as Seifrat HaOmer or counting the sheaves.  The Omer is counted by praying for the Lord’s blessing and return, hoping, and looking for Jesus.  So let us not be so divided celebrating the Lord’s appointed feasts on the wrong days and times.  On the fiftieth day after Passover, Shavuot (fifty) or Pentecost is celebrated. Traditional Christians are celebrating Pentecost on May 19, 2024, the Orthodox Jews are celebrating on June 6, Messianic Jews, and Christians on June 3 and/or June 15, 2024.  No wonder the body of Christ is not experiencing any miracles on Pentecost.

Let us put aside all these different faith beliefs of synthetic religions and get back to obeying Yahweh’s word.  Jesus is looking for His bride on the days that His father says, the feasts can occur.  Yeshua said, “I only do what my father tells me to do” (John 5:19); believers of Christ should do the same – only do what the Father says to do.

Let's celebrate Pentecost, on June 11, 2024, beginning at 6 pm.
